Le Petit Chateau Wedding - Paige and Jack

Paige and Jack’s is a wedding that we’ve been looking forward to for ages. We love these guys and we knew for sure that their wedding was going to be incredible. They have an amazing and effortless style that we will never get tired of capturing. You might have seen them around halloween last year where we headed out to the woods for a Morticia and Gomez inspired shoot. We love spending time with Paige and Jack and their love for each other is so easy to see and even easier to capture. They really are just two people enjoying the passage of time together.

LE PETIT CHATEAU WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

The ceremony room styled for a luxury gothic wedding at Le Petit Chateau, Northumberland.

Although this is the first time we’ve been to Le Petit Chateau for wedding photography, we have visited Le Petit Chateau once before. It was actually with Paige and Jack about a year ago as part of their wedding build up. The venue is amazing and absolutely perfect for a wedding that’s aiming to be just a little bit different. It’s a very unassuming building from the outside but the guys at Le Petit Chateau have created a little wedding Disneyland inside. The ceremony room is gorgeous and it looks great from the outside too. The pink walls and unique roof mean that it’s totally recognisable.

Hanging out with these guys is always an absolute blast and we couldn’t wait to meet their amazing friends and family. We’ve been messaging and chatting with Paige’s mum and we were super keen to finally put a face to the name - Bev is great, we love Bev! She even let Paige wear her Gucci shoes for the wedding. Paige’s bridesmaids were all super cool too. One of them had braided some bracelets out of the hair from their horses so that they could be there on the wedding day in some way. Those might not have been the first tears of the day and they certainly weren’t the last. The whole day was filled with love, laughter, tears and some very good omens.

We knew Paige and Jack were stylish, but we loved seeing all the stunning details that had been planned for styling the wedding. The custom ring box in black velvet was a definite favourite of ours but anyone who’s met us at a wedding fair or seen our sample album will know that Rebecca has a bit of a magpie/shiny object relationship with velvet. We were also brought the wedding stationery that we could get a shot of carefully arranged on the wedding dress train. If you have one spare, bring along an invite for us to shoot on the wedding morning. It’s a great chance to capture those sort of wedding details that otherwise get lost in the mists of time before we are there to capture the wedding day.

Le Petit Chateau has an absolutely unique and frankly, disgustingly beautiful wedding ceremony room. It even has underfloor heating in there so that everyone isn’t walking on cold flagstones and getting tired, aching feet early in the day. It meant that, even though it was pretty nippy on the day, the ceremony room was toasty warm and we even had the doors open. When we say nippy, it actually snowed on our drive back home. The main focus of the Le Petit Chateau wedding ceremony room, apart from Paige and Jack of course, is the giant fireplace that they got married in front of. Paige had messaged us about a crazy idea of getting on top of the fireplace and we were not about to let that opportunity slip by. We hope Le Petit Chateau don’t mind but it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission, right?

Despite the chilly weather we weren’t about to miss out on getting the smoke bombs out with these guys. Paige and Jack are well experienced with smoke bombs by this stage so we had no issues about bringing a few along for their wedding at Le Petit Chateau. We love a good smoke bomb shot, as you probably already know and these guys know exactly how to work with them. The wind was a bit unpredictable on the day even and between the four of us we managed to rotate around and find the best angles. Smoke bombs last a surprisingly long time but it’s still best to have a plan before you start and be able to run around like madheads when it turns out the plan was backwards from how the wind is going.

Something we’ve never seen at a wedding and that definitely went down well with the guests in the evening is a beer pong table. We’re huge fans of wedding entertainment that gets guests up on their feet and doing something a little different. There’s all kinds of games and activities available now and we love seeing them at weddings. Plus, it gives us something interesting and different to photograph. We had all run outside in between short rain showers to pop and spray a bottle of champagne so we had half a bottle going spare. We used that to get a quick game of beer pong with Paige and Jack but we didn’t get to finish it because the shower passed over enough for us to run outside and do sparklers.

Sparklers at weddings are a fun evening activity for your guests. They bring out the inner child in everyone, as your guests remember playing with sparklers on Bonfire Nights. Wedding day sparklers however, do require a little forward planning, so we wrangled all of Paige and Jack’s guests out to the boules court, with strict instructions not to light the sparklers until Rebecca told them to. Thankfully, everyone was very well behaved, and managed to have some (safe) fun. The photos certainly live up to the idea of how fun a sparkler send off at a wedding can be.

The smoke machine gets whipped out for the first dance at a Le Petit Chateau wedding. Not loads and loads of smoke but just enough to cover the floor in an ethereal waft of cloud that looks pretty good. Paige and Jack had their first dance to a John Mayer song that means a lot to them, and was even embroidered under their collars. Then for the evening they had a live musician who got everyone dancing. We said our goodbyes and hit the road but we have a feeling it won’t be too long before we see these two again… and we absolutely cannot wait.
