It’s no secret we’re big fans of Lord of the Rings (our wedding was middle earth themed, ‘Concerning Hobbits’ still brings a tear to Rebecca’s eye), so when we heard about North Shire we were instantly inspired.
North Shire is a gorgeous campsite outside Liverton Village (it used to be Bunnyland, to our local readers). Carol, the owner, has enormous dreams for the place, and she’s currently transforming it into her very own fantasy-land. She has gorgeous gypsy caravans, fabulous shepherd huts, an enchanting Storybook Cottage, and she’s recently added the Green Dragon café and pie shop. 2019 will see the completion of a replica of Hagrid’s hut and a massive wedding barn! It’s the perfect setting for an outdoor festival wedding, and just the kind of place we love to photograph.
Thankfully, when Rebecca told Carol of our plans for the photoshoot, she jumped at the idea!
It was planned for June, and our vision was inspired by North Shire. We wanted the shoot to feel relaxed and chic, using natural materials to style the area. Styling and floral design came from Ambience Styling Teesside and Lily Mae Florals, who are a wedding team local to Middlesbrough. Together they created a stunning floral display and velvet covered archway. Plenty of candles and wooden accents added to the festival/boho vibe.
For dresses we headed to Kate Fearnley. Rebecca’s been in love with her dresses for a little while now, so she was so happy when Kate and Sonja decided to work with us. They came with a car full of beautifully delicate dresses that are just perfect for an outdoor summer wedding. With floating butterfly details, and the most stunning applique work, our bride looked like the fairy-tale beauty we were hoping to capture.
As for our ‘groom’ there was no other choice in our mind but Dandy Threads. Rob has quite a few of their suits and jackets in his wardrobe, so it was a joy to work with Nick to style our gent in a relaxed country-esque vibe. Dandy Threads is an amazing gentlemen’s outfitter in Guisborough, who specialise in classic tailoring with a modern twist, for the more discerning groom. This year they’re launching their bespoke suit service, and we can’t wait to work with them more in the future!
Our beautiful ‘bride’ was styled by Sarah Jane of Sarah Jane’s Salon, and Sasha from Contemporary Salon in Guisborough. For Ruby’s make-up Sarah created a soft glowing look, using gold pigment and fluffy lashes to really make her gorgeous eyes stand out. Meanwhile, Sasha curled Ruby’s hair, keeping it tousled and natural, before creating a soft braided look inspired by elves.
The finished shoot was more beautiful than we could have imagined. While the blinding sun wasn’t ideal for taking photos, we made it work, and created a set of vibrant images that really show off what a diverse venue North Shire is turning into. We can’t wait to head back once the barn is finished!
