Our Top 10 in 2018!

If we had £1 every time someone said 'I can't believe it's nearly January!' we'd have a lot of £1 coins! But seriously though, how is it almost 2019 already? Where did 2018 go?!

As the year draws to a close, we thought it was a good idea to look back over everything we've achieved this year. It's been a big year for us as a business. We attended 11 wedding fairs, completed three weddings, organised two styled wedding shoots, attended one wedding workshop, and had a few family shoots thrown in the mix too!

With all this in mind, we decided to share with you all our top 10 photos from 2018, and why they're our favourites.

First up is this image from the styled photoshoot we did at North Shire.

This was the first styled shoot we organised, and we're so glad we did! We got to know some amazing wedding suppliers, and feel like we made some really important connections with other people in the industry. The day was absolutely scorching and we were all a little sun burned by the end of the day, but we had such a fun time and it definitely made us want to do it again. We love this image for the colours. It really shows off just how beautiful the day was, and I think it really shows just how gorgeous North Shire's grounds are!

children's photography

Next up is this photo from a lifestyle family session we did in our back garden. Again, a glorious sunny summer day.

The shoot was of Becky and Rich's (who's wedding we photographed last year) three boys, and Frankie (pictured) is the middle one!

He is the quintessential middle child bless him, and while we did manage to get a smile out of him eventually, it took a while!

Continuing with our summer theme, this image from Amy and Marti's wedding is one of our favourites! It's a completely unscripted moment, when they'd just come out of Bamburgh Castle's great hall and were enjoying a moment for themselves. Amy and Marti are an amazing couple, and really took us along on their journey. Any of the photos from their wedding are our favourites, purely because in every single one Amy has this massive smile on her face!

clay pigeon shooting bride and groom

We think this image from Sue and Martin's wedding sums it up perfectly. They were married at Durham registry office before heading back to Burnhopeside Hall, a wonderful country retreat set in acres of stunning farmland.

So what do you arrange to entertain your guests after they've eaten? Clay pigeon shooting...obviously!

Everyone had an absolutely fantastic time, and it was so much fun to watch!

Also over summer we got to meet Lisa's family. She wanted photos of her children and their cousin as a gift to their grandmother. We haven't shared these images yet, so looking forward to getting them onto the feed soon!

As you can see they're absolutely stunning kids, and they were so much fun to work with! Telling us jokes and climbing trees.

Also, this outfit co-ordination wasn't planed, but how wonderful do they all look?!

bride and groom at beaumont park

In October we managed to secure places on a coveted Rosie Hardy wedding photography workshop. We're massive fans of her fantasy portrait work, so the opportunity to meet her and learn from her was one we couldn't pass up! It was an amazing day and Rosie is such a lovely person. Shannon and Danny were our models braving the cold of Huddersfield. We love this shot because it shows off Shannon's dress beautifully, plus showcases the gorgeous landscape of Beaumont Park.

halloween baby photography

Another new experience for October was our Halloween mini sessions we did at North Shire's pumpkin patch.

We'd planned it all so well, and were so proud of ourselves. But the one thing you can't plan for is the weather! It POURED down. Luckily it stopped long enough for a few hardy souls to stop in.

This is an image of our friends daughter Freya, who is giving us all kind of side eye for putting her in the pumpkin patch in the cold!

1920 styled wedding shoot

Our second styled shoot of the year was one thrown together very quickly! Once again we collaborated with amazing local wedding suppliers to create this super stylish 1920's Christmas style shoot. We love this image because it really shows off all the amazing colours of Preston Park's winter garden, and the stunning floral bouquets made for us by Flowermaiden. Plus, the model is a friend of ours, and we love to remind her just how stunning she is!

romantic couple photography

Finally, our last shoot of the year was with Laura and Ollie. Laura and Rebecca have been best friends for years, so when Laura asked us to create some images for them to give to their family we jumped at the chance. They're an amazing couple, and we had so much fun with them, walking their dog around the Newstead Abbey estate.

We hope you enjoy our 2018 round up, and we wish you a wonderful New Year!
